Kendra Atkins, Director of Development at The Beacon, spoke to St. Thomas’ Adult Forum on Sunday, March 18. She spoke about the facilities and programs available to Houston’s homeless population. She also talked about Houston’s city-wide innitiative, involving multiple city, state, national, religious and charitable organizations to provide safe and appropriate housing for homeless men, women and families. St. Thomas, as a lenten discipline, has been collecting small-sized toiletries, such as razors and shaving cream, soap, shampoo, toothpaste and toothbrushes, hand lotion, etc. for The Beacon’s clients. Ms. Atkins was very appreciative of both our collection efforts, now and in the past, and of our continuing presence at The Beacon on the first Saturday of every month.
